The Pipe Carriers
The pipe carriers pass among
us still
Silently - soft-feathered -
humbly
Chanupas cradled lovingly
Visible to all who will.
Their pace ancient and slow
Yet synced to this frenetic
century
to its
aspirations, and to its aspirants
to its
suffering, and to its sufferers
to its healing,
and to its healers.
You wonder how much they can
really know
But you never, ever, ever
want them to go.
